The pilot step of Punarujeevanam project- Dhavathi 2017 for the rediscovery of Kallayi river- Canoli canal, the erstwhile “river trade route” has been conducted and a report for the project prepared by forty students of KMCT Architecture College( KMCT COA) was formally submitted to the Hon. district Collector U.V. Jose yesterday.
The report is the outcome of the research project carried out by fifth year students and teachers of the KMCT Architecture College (KMCT COA) who mulled over rejuvenating the ancient elegance of water route by disposing the garbage accumulation through modern urban designing. The study and report was prepared under the guidance of Dr Sathish, Director –KMCT COA.
The report explores viable solutions for the revival of the canal from Eranjikkal- the starting point to Azhikkal-ending point. It includes 17 km and areas like Azhikkal, West Kallayi, Thuruthummel, Puthiya palam, Ariyadathu palam , Sarovaram, Chemmeen kettu, and Eranjikkal.
