KMCT Medical College, Manassery observed World AIDS Day by arranging quite a few programs like a mass rally, health education classes, and pencil competition to make awareness about the illness and stop discrimination against AIDS patients on Friday.
Dr Ali Zameel, Professor-KMCT Medical College, inaugurated the programs. Addressing the participants on the occasion, Dr. Ali Zameel said the main concern should be to attain ‘zero demises’ and ‘zero AIDS cases’.
Mr Sujesh, Medical Social worker, welcomed the gathering. The rally was flagged off by Dr Hassan Koya- Associate professor- Dept of Community Medicine, KMCT Medical College. The rally passed through different streets before ending on the premises of KMCT Medical College. More than 100 students of KMCT Medical College took part in the one km rally.
Students circulated leaflets among people to generate attentiveness against AIDS/HIV. A talk on Health Education was delivered by Dr Hassan Koya, Associate professor- Dept of Community Medicine, KMCT Medical College. Students of Community medicine- KMCT MC lighted lamps in order to show respect to the victims of illness.
Students of ‘MKHMMOHSS’ also played a part in the celebrations. Many students of MKHMMO Higher Secondary School contested in the painting competition. The AIDS Day celebration came to a close with the prize distribution. Dr Roshni delivered vote of thanks.
