Dhavathi 2017, The Urban Design Exhibition, came to a close at town hall, near Mannchira in Kozhikode on Dec 3, Sunday. Honourable district collector Sri. U.V. Jose inaugurated the exhibition by lighting the lamp.
“By doing a project study on Kallayi river-Kanoli canal revival, the students of KMCT COA have done an excellent job. It is really helpful for the next generation. We are planning to do a study based on the report submitted by the students, “Said collector U.V. Jose. “Based on the students’ project study, the Town Planning Department will prepare a design for reviving the canal and river”, he added.
Dr G.P. Satish, Director – K.M.C.T. College of Architecture (C.O.A.), delivered the welcome address. Dr K. Moidu – Chairman, KMCT Group of Institutions presided over the event. Well known architect Sri. A.K. Prashanth- was the guest of honour on the function.
Project presentations of KMCT COA students (2013-2018) on Kallayi river- Kallayi-Kanoli canal were well received by the audience. The presentation was followed by a group discussion.
Sri. U.V. Jose (District Colector-Calicut), Sri. A.K. Prashanth-(Chief Architect- Prashanth Associates), Sri. C. Janardhanan(President KSDA), Sri. A. Vishwanathan (Sec.- KSDIP), Sri. KV Abdul Malik- Regional Town planner, Dr. G.P. Satish, Director Principal- KMCT College of Architecture, Deepak G. (Architect & Teacher), Prabhakaran (Architect), T Musthafa (Former Head- Malayala manorama daily Photo graphy section) took part in the panel discussion. Students and teachers from fifteen colleges were also present.
Hon. Mayor Thottathil Raveendran inaugurated the photography contest & exhibition, which was organized at Lalitha Kala Academy Hall, Calicut as part of Dhavathi 2017. Anas Vadakara bagged the best photographer award.
